Dear Max, We are at the finish of our European tour and have lots of information, and photos, to share with you. Unfortunately whilst being "on the road" we have limited facilities and will only share three events with you in this newsletter.
l'Occitane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A health
care giant based in Provence, France
Our tour of the factory was a real "eye opener". Such a modern facility. Started in 1976 with the first shop opened in 1980. It now has 300 staff and produces 150,000 products a day!!! Everything is extremely high quality and well researched. Over 500 stock items including 95 different soaps.
Lavender from the Shop ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In New Zealand
you may be suffering from winter ills. Do remember the wonderful
properties of lavender. Lavender salve rubbed in a sniffly childs' chest
relieves conjestion. Lavender lozenges soothe a sore throat. Lavender oil
and a burner refreshing the house. All aspects Allan in the shop can help
with. Have a look at our shop on line here
....
All transactions online are extremely secure. Please see our guarantee .....
Winter Opening Hours ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During winter
our farm shop in the barn is open 10am to 4pm every day except Tuesday and
Wednesday. Allan can take credit card orders over the phone if you wish,
or just come out for a visit. You are always welcome at Whitebay
| |
The Lavender Museum ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What a wealth
of knowledge this well visited tourist attraction has to show. A very
interesting video on the history of the French lavender industry,
horticultural industry, proceedures and machinery.
Inside this unique museum is distilling equipment from the seventeenth century onward. The busy shop had a wide variety of goods and excellent multi lingual staff.
Jersey Lavender Farm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alistair
Christie graciously spent a day showing us over his beautiful farm on the
Island of Jersey. A highlight of the day was the farm's cafe filled with
scrumptious delicious food as well as very contented customers. More on
this next newsletter!!!
The 20 plus year old farm has grown into a very stable and well patronised business weathering many problems faced by newer lavender farms. Alistair's knowledge of perfumes would be the best in the industry. The gardens were a delight with older visitors examining the lavender collection and the younger ones more interested in the swings and chickens.
Finally ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When we have
unpacked our brochures and retrieved our photos we can share more about
these visites with you. Until then its back to Whitebay, its summer
season, and our World of Lavender
Best wishes, Liz and Max
